Tri an Mhi Race Report - Mike Lane
Tri an Mhi this year hosted the National Middle Distance championships for the first time and a small but strong group of hardy souls from Limerick Triathlon Club made the long trek north to compete. All the talk in the run up to the race was, would the swim take place. The air temperature was quite low on the day due to the northerly wind and we all shivered standing in our wetsuits waiting to find out if we were getting into the water. The alternative, a long distance duathlon, didn't appeal to many.
Weekend events
This weekend the action moves to Meath - good luck to all travelling to the Tri an Mhi CXIII National Middle distance champs, and to Lanzarote - a big shout out to Anthony Egan taking on his first IM!
Upcoming Talk with Aaron O'Brien
Mark Dempsey a Freelance ITU comptetitive coach has organised a talk with Limerick Triathlon Club's, Aaron O Brien,
at the Arena Bar, University of Limerick at 6pm on Tuesday next 21st of May
Aaron has just qualified for the European Junior Triathlon Championships to be held in Alanya, Turkey in June.
All are welcome to attend and have look into the life of an elite triathlete and wish him the best.
Mallorca IM 70.3
Returning to Mallorca for the IM 70.3 was a fantastic experience. Having done the event in 2012 with my brother, this year there were 18 athletes under the Limerick flag, with many more to support. I had said if I can do it, anyone can, so sure enough 8 of the gang had never done the distance before, I was just hoping everyone else would enjoy it as much as me.
DEADLINE FOR HELL OF THE WEST ENTRY SWAPS
The deadline for Hell of the West entry swaps is Friday, 31 May. Contact kilkee_race_secretary@limericktriathlon.com if you have an entry you will not be able to use, and we will put you in touch with someone on our wait list.

Survey -Rachel Clancy
Rachel Clancy is completing a Masters and needs us fellow triathletes to help her out:
"As part of my MSc in Sport/Exercise Management at UCD, I am doing my thesis on social media marketing for triathlons. Many of you completed a survey for me recently, which was used to "pilot" my questions before officially collecting data. My finalized survey has been available on Irish Triathlon for a few weeks and also shared on Facebook. So, if you've filled out the final version already, thank you very much. If not, please take a few minutes to answer my questions by cutting/pasting the link below into your web browser. Even if you completed the pilot version, you can respond to the final survey as well because these are the results I will actually analyze. I appreciate it."

Wednesday evening cycles
Wednesday evening cycles leave at 6pm SHARP from Eugene's Yard (the alleyway between Barrington St and St Joseph St , parallel to O'Connell ave). As always TI or CI membership is required for insurance purposes. The cycle group goes out together and stays together for the majority of the spin. On the homeward bound stretch the pace increases and it will split into smaller groups. A good level of fitness is required as with the racing season about to start, general fitness levels are high at this time of year.

Thanks to everyone for their patience - we are finalising some logistics with the race.
Anyone on the waiting list, or who has contacted us about a swap, can expect to hear from the Race secretary in the coming days.
