Jenkins 2nd in Schull

Limerick's own Brian Jenkins had a great race in Schull, taking 2nd place.  This was one of many great performances from the club.  Mike Casey O'Shea achieved his highest placing so far, coming in 9th.  Eoin Gamble came 10th and was 2nd in his age group.  Niall Maloney won his age group.  In the female competition, Lynne Algar was 5th (1st 25-29) and Alison Ledger put in a strong bike to take 7th female.  Well done to everyone that competed.  Things are looking good for Kilkee!

TT Series Wk 7

Another great evening for some cycling.  Marshalls/Volunteers were on hand again to help everything run smoothly.  It looked like rain at one stage but we have now had seven weeks of sunshine cycling.  With over twenty out, we had some new arrivals to the course as well as returns from some dormant participants from last year.  Times were a little slower than usual. This was probably due to a stiff breeze on the out section of the course.  Cyril Keane still managed a very fast sub 23 min lap and things are hotting up in the overall results with Gary Sheehan and Stephan Bourke now tied on top position, in their category, with 62 points each and only being separated by their fastest lap times. You can get results here or check out the TT web page for full details. We need to get some volunteers for next week so if you can help drop me an e-mail training@limericktriathlon.com. For non club memebers who haven't joined as associate members yet, we have application forms to hand each week and its only €10, or you can do this online here.  Don't forgat 'Hell of the West' is coming up soon and TT Thursdays is guaranteed to improve that bike split time, so come on out! We are currently at week 7 of 15.

Valentia Race Report

24 LTC athletes travelled to Valentia Island in Kerry for the 2010 race. Most of the Limerick athletes travelled to Valentia Island on the Friday, many used Friday to get acquainted with the course and unwind and relax in the beautiful island surroundings.

TT series wk6

Current results

Congrats to Alan B who succeeded in bagging a new course record last night with the first sub 21 min lap seen on the course. some excellent results all round and new PB's set on what was a lovely evening for cycling .  As we are still early into the summer we will be extending the series by 5 more weeks to give an overall 15 week session.  These dates will follow on after the Kilkee Triathlon (june 26th) with more info to follow.  See you all next week.  Wanda's photos are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/49489440@N04/sets/72157623984198235/

Barcelona Half Ironman 2010 Race Report

What began last November on a treatment table in Gerry Mc Intyre’s clinic in Shannon between Gerry and myself culminated on Sunday morning in 40+ Limerick (and one or two honorary Limerick) athletes taking to the water in sunny Maresme on the Barcelona coastline, and ultimately coming away with a haul of 7 prizes which is almost unprecedented given the high class field that had gathered for the event.
