Open Water Swimming 2010

Open water swimming starts back tonight (Monday May 3rd) 6.30pm at Castleconnell rowing club 'Worlds End' (same place as last year).  This is not a coached session tonight and is primarily aimed at giving those going to barcelona a chance to get into their wetsuits and do a bit before the the big day in two weeks.  Caution! the water is still quite cold at the moment but we'll try to ignore the sense of, "April May stay out of the say, June July swim till ya die" and see how we go.  Always remeber be sensible and if you don't feel comfortable then get out!  Stephan will be starting his coached open water swim sessions at the same location in a few weeks, more info. to follow on that.  Any enquires to training@limericktriathlon.com

Irish Junior Squad Triathlon Camp Aguilas Spain

I have had the privilege to work on the first ever Junior Irish Triathlon Squad, International training camp in Aguilas Spain.  It is fair to say that last nine days, were some of the most memorable and challenging in my career.  The camp facts include; 9 athletes (junior and youth triathletes), 9 days, 4 coaches; legendary cycling specialist Stephen Delaney, athlete and coach Elena Maslova, Limerick Triathlon Coach and athlete Stephen Teeling Lynch, and Exercise Physiologist Antonia Rossiter.

Around 30 Limerick Tri members competed in the Nenagh sprint distance tri, which has become a good warm-up for our own Joey Hannan race.  There were some great performances from our club, with eight members placing in the top 30 (including club chairperson Johnny D!).  Our female competitors were particularly strong today, with Lisa Horgan and Lynne Algar achieving podium finishes (2

TT Thursdays Week 3

Great numbers out again last night.  Special thanks again to all marshalls who kept things running again with their help on the night.  Some very close results last night. In the junior category the O'Hara brothers did battle once more with With Andrew pipping Shane to the post by a mere two seconds.  The elite category saw an even closer split of 1 single second with Stephan Clancy puuting in the quickest lap again to just about hold off Mike Storan.  We also saw the arrival of our Duathlons organiser for her first time of TT, Barbara put in the fastest female lap of the night.  In the Male senior Category Gary Sheehan posted the quickest category lap of the series so far.  In the Rookie category we are seeing week on week improvements form Shane Larkin who shows no signs of slacking off in performance.  Dolmen CC entered a surprise contender to the Male Vet. category last night with Cyril Keane blowing away the field with a 22.33 lap (almost at the elite category cut off point of 40kmph) We are beginning to see the points system kicking into action now and the results are now organised on that basis.  Remember it will be calculated over you best 6 out of 10 nights + 10 points for marshalling on a night.  The highest posssible score is 70 points. Click her for results.  We need marshalls for next week again so drop us an e-mail and we'll give you a job.  10 points are awarded for marshalling on a night.  See you all next week.  Click here for the TT Thursdays Web Page
