TT 2010 week 1

The flash wheels and aero helmets were to the fore last night and the high modulus carbon bikes and a few rusty trusty steeds were polished and ready to tackle head on the now in famous last 2km to the finish line of the limerick triathlon club time trial. Click Here for Results

23 testers took to the start line where once again our club clock was counting down the seconds for each starter. It was great to see so many new faces out tonight, even on April 1, 2010 were they preparing themselves for the over indulgence at the weekend….. I wonder J

Clare Sports Partnership Run Series

There is a run series currently being held around Co. Clare.  The next run is tomorrow (Wednesday) and its close by in Shannon, Sign on @ St. Senans Rugby club @ 6.30ish. See attachment for more info or go to  http://www.claresportspartnership.ie/

Midweek evening cycles are back

Clocks have gone forward, evenings are now longer (or brighter at least).  Time for some midweek club cycling.  Wednesday (march 31) will see the start back of the weekly spins starting from Eugene's yard just off O'Connell Avenue (near the bike shop).  This cycle typically covers 40-50km and is ideal for those who are looking for a controlled group spin where the pace is not too quick.  There is usually a chance to open the legs in the last few km's coming back in the road but for the most part the group is controlled and together.  April fools day will see the start back of TT Thursdays.  We hope to run a 5 week series up to the Joey triathlon with another five week series in the lead up to 'Hell of the West'.  We will be running a new scoring system this year also and in an effort to encourage volunteering (which we always appreciate/require) there will be points credit given for this. More scoring details to follow.  Check the new
TT Thursdays web page for more info./results/maps/tips n tricks.  With the recent heat wave conditions we have experienced both sessions will be weather depending. Keep an eye on the website, if its not cancelled there it's going ahead!

Your Club needs YOU!!

Dear Members

The Joey Hannan Triathlon is 5 weeks away and we are extremely short on marshals!

We need over 80 people to run this event .So please do what you can for your club, if you are racing then try and volunteer a family member or friend.

All volunteers will receive a free 'Goody Bag' with race t-shirt, a meal voucher for the UL Sports Club after the race and an invite to the BBQ in Nancy Blakes.

Yours in anticipation!

European Duathlon Qualification

03/27/2010
Eire

Many club members will have qualified for the above based on the super performances across all AG's at St.Endas on Sunday last.

The qualification process and eligibility is set out on the TI web site under the Selection/Age Group 2010 tabs. The application/slot allocation is closing on April 5th so anyone interested in competing needs to apply fairly quickly.

It would be a great opportunity for club members to race in the Green Jersey and round off the season or use the event as a 'training event !' for Kenmare which is taking place the following weekend.

Let me know if anyone is interested in exploring the options/ travelling to see how many we might put together.
