Liz Gabbett
Q.1 Name
Elizabeth Mary Clancy Gabbett - better known as Liz Gabbett
Q.2 Address
Mungret, Co. Limerick
Q.3 Occupation
Environmental Admin
Q.4 Age
31
Q.5Marital status
Single but if any one of the O'Halpin brothers were around I couldn't be
trusted ... those shoulders, those long legs and they speak fluent
Irish!! Swoon!!!
Q.6 Years in triathlon
This is my second year.
Q.7 Most embarrassing tri moment
Nothing worth mentioning...yet. But I'm sure there will be.
Q.8 Favorite distance
Olympic - I've only done Kilkee but the buzz afterwards was worth it.
Who needs drugs when you've got endorphins!!
Q.9 Favorite discipline - High heel boots and a whip!
If you're still talking about tri? - swimming.
Q.10 What's your sporting background
I'm a late comer to sport - I started rowing a few years ago and I've
had one competitive year rowing in 2005 then I took up Tri
Q.11 What Time of the day do you prefer to train
I'm an early morning bird.
Q.12 Your best friends birthday is saturday night and you have a race
the
next day do you go.
Honestly I think I'd stay in and get a good nights rest - maybe that's
why I'm single?
Q.13 What do you like to indulge in after a hard bike session
A long hot shower followed by a Mammy dinner. Mammy dinners are the
best!
Q.14 In swim train do you give the 5 sec or do you only give 2 (tell the
Truth shame the devil) - Depends if Orla Power is ahead of me - 2
seconds. otherwise is 4.5 enough?
Q.15 It's been a hard day at the office would you train to release the
stress or take it handy
- I'd go training. Rowing was great for that. When you row all your
concentration and strength is in the stroke. When I run or bike I'm not
as 100% focused.
Q.16 Who is your race within a race - anyone in front of me but
especially if I know them - I get a bit arrogant and believe that I can
catch them for all of 10 seconds and then reality hits.
Q.17 You're on holidays and you tell the better 1/2 your going for a
walk do
you walk or stick in a sneaky run
- In this hypothetical situation - I'd probably go for the walk to the
water to go for a swim
Q.18 what's your goal for 2007 - To do Kenmare and beat Eugene Keane in
Kinsale - he said I wouldn't do it.
Q.19What advice would you give some one who whats to take up triathlons
Definitely give it a go. The people involved are great. The only thing
it is addictive - you need to pull yourself back, get your priorities
straight in your head.
Q.20 Why triathlons - Man, I need those endorphins... and those after
race party where everyone gets drunk on 2 drinks.
